WELCOME TO HOPE VALLEY FOUNDATION
PREAMBLE
The Valley of Hope Foundation, as a charity organisation, complements government efforts in development programmes through empowerment programmes of skills acquisition, aid for widows, teenagers, persons living with disabilities, vulnerable persons, and persons living with diverse health conditions such as HIV/AIDS, sickle cell anaemia, diabetes, cataracts, and many others. It fills the vacuum by carrying out sociological, psychological, and financial reconstruction through education, health outreaches, poverty reduction, food security, and sporting activities.
AREAS OF INTERVENTION
A. SKILLS ACQUISITION
Participants benefit from training programmes in tailoring, bricklaying, catering services, welding, hairdressing, soap and cream production, and beads and jewellery making, with a startup capital given to participants after a successful completion of any of the training programmes.
B. HEALTHCARE OUTREACH
The Foundation organises seminars, symposia, workshops, and talks for creating awareness of all kinds of health conditions, which include but are not limited to HIV/AIDS, sickle cell anaemia, diabetes, and cataracts, with outreach to different destinations.
C. ENVIRONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT
The Foundation initiates development projects to support the construction and rehabilitation of roads, town centres, and educational facilities, providing potable water and harnessing solar energy to light communities, and personal and environmental sanitation.
D. PROJECT FOOD
Improved seeds, providing seedlings, fertilisers, and farm implements for supporting participants to enhance food security during the dry season farming for foods like tomatoes, green pepper, hot bell pepper, chilli pepper, carrots, cabbage, ginger, bananas, plantains, cocoa, palm products, egusi, sesame seeds, groundnuts, cowpeas, and Irish potatoes, as well as sweet potatoes, which are mostly cash crops. The main arable crops are maize, sorghum, millet, cassava, fonio (acha), finger millet (tamba), yam, and cocoyam. Other forms of farming, like fishery, poultry, and animal husbandry, are also encouraged and supported.
E. FINANCIAL AID AND SPONSORSHIP
Students in primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions are granted financial aid and sponsorship, with educational resource materials to support their educational pursuit. Books are also collected and taken to schools in rural areas to help pupils with study materials.
F. ACTION FOR THE YOUTH
In a bid to reduce crime and youth restiveness, sporting activities are organised for the youth to encourage participation and good sportsmanship for socialisation and to overcome emotional stress and substance abuse.
G. BASIC AMENITIES
The Foundation supports the communities (especially the Internally Displaced Persons) with the distribution of sanitary wares, toiletries, delivery packages, clothing, and Project-Food-For-The-Day.
SUMMARY
The Foundation identifies areas of need in communities and rallies for support from persons and groups within and outside the communities. The Foundation garners support to reduce poverty and facilitate a sustainable wealth creation continuum.
